It just occurred to me that I haven’t done one of these in a while! Don’t worry, you haven’t missed anything at all!
Louisville City
- Well, Chandler Hoffman’s going back west to play with Real Monarchs in Salt Lake City or nearby.
- Kadeem Dacres is apparently not returning, either.
- None of that should surprise you, but it certainly begs the question of where all Louisville’s scoring is going to come from in 2017.
United Soccer League
- Nikola Popovic will be the new manager for USL Cup finalists Swope Park Rangers. No word on whether he’s related to Greg in any way.
- Those of us hoping that NYRBII would clean house like they did last year are going to be very disappointed.
Other American Soccer
- Oh, nothing big, just firing a manager in the middle of a World Cup Qualification cycle.
- He’ll probably be replaced by former USMNT coach and present LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena.
- I’m kind of hoping that’s just a short-term fix.
- NASL’s Miami FC commissioned a study by Deloitte on whether promotion and relegation would be beneficial for soccer in the United States. You’ll never guess what the study sort of concluded!
College Soccer
- The Louisville Cardinals won their opening College Cup match against UCLA in dramatic fashion, and will advance to the Sweet 16 against Notre Dame at Lynn Stadium on Sunday. Congrats to Ken Lolla’s Cardinals!
- Kentucky’s College Cup campaign ended with a whimper, unfortunately, with an opening 2-3 loss to Creighton. Good season to the Cats, nonetheless.
