USSF held the first draw for this year’s U.S. Open Cup today for the preliminary round, Round 1 and Round 2. USL teams will play in the second round. Louisville City FC’s draw is an away match against either Lansing United, an NPSL team from East Lansing, MI, or RWB Adria, a USASA team from Chicago. No Wiki or google search done yet about what RWB stands for, but this is America so I”m going for Red, White and Blue. Or Real World Boston, which would be weird since they’re out of Chicago, as I said before. Maybe the club moved, like the Utah Jazz, after that ill-fated season featuring Syrus, Elka and Kameelah?
I digress. U.S. Open Cup soccer is exciting in that it’s a very old and historic competition, and represents the closest thing you’re going to see to cup competitions like England’s FA cup here in the States. It kind of sucks to have to travel all the way to Michigan, it that’s what it takes, but with any luck LCFC dominates those northerners and we get a home match in the Third Round.
