I’ll be brief: I’m on Spring Break, and have only been able to half-watch the game because I’m in a house with six kids under the age of 10. My quick takes on the actual game:
- Paolo’s assist on Oscar’s goal is proof positive of the benefits of having continuity on the roster. Their understanding that they developed over the past year or so led to that score. Thing of beauty.
- Luke Spencer didn’t score but I think he sure deserved to.
- The game went about like I expected, in that it was a cagey affair with both teams determined to limit the the opposition’s scoring chances. Tampa is super potent, so it’s a real credit to Morados defense that they were able to keep a clean sheet.
Now, about the other stuff, which, unfortunately, is the real narrative from Saturday:
- Here I thought the whole “hole in the net” thing would be the most controversial or embarrassing thing that happened yesterday
- I don’t know what series of decisions led to the Sheriff’s department and on-duty LMPD doing stadium security, but suffice it to say they need to be revisited. There’s no excuse for any of the behavior I’m reading about on Twitter by public officials and law enforcement. It’s a damn sporting event, not an unruly mob. Even it it was, that’s overreach and some reprimands need to be issued. Unacceptable.
- Y’all are the best. Keep doing what you do. Dress up. Paint up. Drink up. Next game, keep doing your thing, but do it more and louder.
VAMOS MORADOS
