Do y’all remember DuckTales? It was a Disney cartoon featuring Scrooge McDuck and his extended family that was on WDRB (I think) in the afternoons in the early 90’s. Do they still air after-school cartoons on network TV, or is that all Nickelodeon’s, Cartoon Network’s, and Disney Channel’s market now? There were some good shows – Animaniacs, X-Men, Batman The Animated Series.
But – DuckTales. It had a really catchy jingle and some fun story lines. I remember one where they kind of re-imagined Homer’s Oddysey; it was pretty good. Disney Channel re-booted it recently and it’s like the show never left, except they added a girl cousin named Webby who fits in rather seamlessly. The guy who does Scrooge’s voice is new, but it’s not that noticeable. They gave Huey, Dewey & Louie non-duck-like voices, which is actually good. The animation was kind of stripped down, but it certainly doesn’t take anything away. I’m impressed.
I watch a lot of cartoons these days because that’s what puts the baby to sleep at night. Plus, I like kids TV shows and movies, and I’m not afraid to admit it.
