I’ve touched on this subject before, but it’s a little funny how sports got to where they are now. Sports, when they were invented, all of them, started out as games kids played to stay busy and out of trouble. They were entertaining to play. No one really thought about sitting down to watch kids play games as entertainment, at least not at first. Then, some of the kids that played the games started playing them once they were done with school, too. Enough of them were of a like mind that they’d get together and have games. And for some reason, people who weren’t playing the games started to watch the ones that were. Then, more and more people started watching.

And then some genius/asshole thought “hey, people should have to pay to watch this” and started charging admission. Then players started to say “hey, genius/asshole, these people are paying you to watch us, we should get some of that money,” and the guy probably said “no” and then the players said “ok, we’re gonna go play somewhere else then” and the guy said “woah wait a minute is this Russia?” and now we’ve got people paying thousands of dollars to gazillionaires to watch millionaires play a game that was invented to keep kids busy and out of trouble. Sports are dumb, and also great.
