It’s Election Day 2018! GO VOTE. If you haven’t voted already, go do it. Yes, political gerrymandering of voting districts is a thing and will be a thing until the next revolution or coup happens. BUT, if you DON’T vote, that makes it worse. It’s the one aspect of our representative democracy that gives you some say.

Naturally, I’d prefer you knew something about the politicians you are casting your votes for and what their platforms are and how they intend to approach the duties that come with whatever office they’re running for. I also know that’s not always easy. What does a constable do, anyway? Is it like the Patton Oswalt character on Justified? Yes, yes it is.

Some candidates who took the trouble to file to run for office don’t respond to newspaper requests for information about platform and background and stuff like that. How lazy can you be? It’s the only free political advertising you can get, unless you were so busy knocking on doors asking for votes that you forgot to respond. I doubt that’s what happened, though, guy or lady.

VOTE.
