Louisville City has named a general contractor for the stadium project! Messer Construction and Harmon Construction have joined forces to build the stadium and will host media today at the building site at 10:30. Messer is a large regional construction contractor based in Cincinnati but has done a lot of work in Louisville since opening offices here in the early 2000s. They recently built the Norton Cancer Institute out at Brownsboro Crossing, and teamed up with Harmon Construction to do the most recent round of expansion at Cardinal Stadium. Harmon Construction is a minority-owned firm out of North Vernon, Indiana whose principal, Billy Harmon, played basketball for UofL in the 70’s. The joint venture is called Messer/Harmon JV.
This is great! Things are going to start happening a lot faster down at Cabel and Adams. There will reportedly be cameras filming the site’s progress daily, the link to which I’m interested to find. I can’t overstate how important the stadium is to the club (and the owners, probably). It’s what will hopefully cement Louisville City in the region’s sports landscape for decades if not centuries to come. This is a big deal.
