Holy crap it’s already May 15. It’s funny how time works the older you get. I was taking my kids to soccer practice yesterday and we were talking about when the new school year would start, in August. I said, “Wow, that’s right around the corner.” They said, “No, it’s not! We’ve got a whole summer before then!”

When you’re a kid, time moves much slower. A year seems like F O R E V E R because at that point, one year is a pretty large chunk of your life. A year to a five year old is 20% of his or her entire existence. So, yeah, a year is a loooong time for a kid, as is a day, a week, or a month. But then, when you’re older, a year isn’t quite so long. My middle kiddo starts kindergarten this fall, and then it’s just twelve years before he graduates high school. I know that time is going to seem like an eternity to him, but it’ll pass by in a damn wink for me. I’m getting sad just thinking about it.

I’m bad at perspective, but some of us, me included, could use some over this recent run of form for Louisville City. It’s two games. No, the boys haven’t looked their best for stretches this season. However, we’re eight games in, have sixteen points, average a very good two points per game, we’re in third place with a game in hand, and are just a point out of first. No, the guys haven’t looked great for a couple weeks. Maybe they need a confidence boost? A midweek match against an amateur club might be the kickstart they need. It worked last season against Tartan Devils.
