Lots has been happening recently in the local and national soccer universes, none of which I really wanted to spend entire PP’s on this week thanks to other stuff, but here are the highlights:The USWNT and others have filed an employment discrimination lawsuit against USSF in federal court in California, alleging that USSF has unfairly and illegally discriminated against their members in the form of unequal pay, benefits, treatment and support in comparison with their admittedly much less successful male counterparts. A great breakdown of the suit by the New York Times is here, and Miki Turner’s always excellent anaylsis of the legal issues is here on The Athletic. Sorry about the paywall, but I think the subscription is worth it. I’ll never forgive Miki for taking the niche but lucrative not lucrative job of blogging about legal issues in soccer away from me, but alas, I am way too lazy to do it as well as he does.

Sunny Jane has been called up to the Lesotho national team for and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next weekend, while Speedy Williams and Shaun Francis were called into the Jamaican national team for a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against El Salvador next Saturday, plus (probably) a friendly against Costa Rica the following Tuesday. The fact that Louisville City features (at least) three international-caliber players is a good thing, and a real honor for all three (or more) of these guys. However, it sucks to lose at least one starter for the home opener. Congratulations are in order in any event!

The USL might be coming to Fort Lauderdale, but it’s still up in the air whether it’ll be in the form of Inter Miami’s reserve team (booo) or an independent team (yesssssss). The old Fort Lauderdale Strikers supporters group Flight 19 is firmly on board with the latter proposal, and I personally feel like you should be, too.

Louisville City is getting out in the community in force this season. In addition to opening new fields at Beechmont Community Center and William Harrison Park, Mario Sanchez and some of our Morados are working with kids at Roosevelt-Perry Elementary to grow the game in JCPS! Looking forward to more of this!
