Mondays after a very long holiday weekend are often a struggle. “I’ve been doing nothing but eating and drinking and watching sports on TV for the last four days!” said not me. Okay, I definitely said that. However, I can occasionally be an anxious person who realizes that when I don’t work, my to-do list gets much longer. I want to get started right away so it becomes more manageable. I guess that’s because of guilt? Who knows.
NON-SEQUITUR
Louisville City made a big singing announcement last week as it pertains to returning members of the 2018 championship squad. Goalkeepers Greg Ranjitsingh, Chris Hubbard; Defenders Oscar Jimenez, Alexis Souahy, Sean Totsch, Shaun Francis, Pat McMahon; Midfielders Paolo DelPiccolo, Jose Carranza, Magnus Rasmussen, Richard Ballard, Brian Ownby, George Davis IV; and Forward Luke Spencer are all returning.
That leaves up for debate the fates Niall McCabe, Cam Lancaster, Kyle Smith, Tim Dobrowolski, Speedy Williams, Paco Craig, Napo Matsoso, and Ilija Ilic. Several of the unsigned guys are the most talented players in the team. I won’t be surprised to see them trying to up their pay grade in another league.
That said, the number current returnees already signed is pretty impressive and surprising. I didn’t expect so many to return, and I’m pretty impressed that the front office was able to get these deals done so timely. So now starts the GABA inducing part of the year where I’m incredibly anxious about whom Louisville City will and won’t sign. It’s fun! It’s nerve-wracking! We love it!
Hope y’all had a great weekend. The fun starts now.
