The season’s so close we can almost taste it. The squad is back home from Florida with three preseason matches to go, at least two of which we can actually watch. Results were sort of mixed from preseason camp, with losses to Orlando City and Nashville, and wins over New England and USF. These results don’t matter, of course, but since we really don’t know what happened in these games, the mind does wander. “They sure gave up a lot of goals…A college team put two by you?…WE BEAT THE REVS GRANT US A FRANCHISE, YOU MLS COWARDS.” And the like.
Still no details on when or where the Memphis friendly will take place. No matter, the real games that we can watch are just a few more weeks away. UNITED SOCCER LINKS:
- US Soccer’s Annual General Meeting was last weekend, and Miki Turner’s got you covered (paywall, sorry). Among the highlights, USSF granted Division 3 sanctioning to NISA yesterday, making it the second sanctioned D3 league next to USL League One for 2019.
- The City of Hartford found a work-around that will allow Athletic’s owners to start renovation work on Dillon Stadium without breaking state law. Interesting.
- There was a big crowd to welcome the boys home from preseason camp at IMG on Saturday night at Muhammad Ali Airport!
