The season truly is in full swing now. We’ve got controversies over whether Nashville knows what a tifo is, and not understanding why they’re getting roasted for it on the internet. Jake Edwards telling Pittsburgh they might need to Raise Their Stadium Game. A tough-to-beat nominee for USL Championship Goal of the Year. Jack McInerney already wearing out his welcome at yet another club.

THIS is what we live for! If, of course, by we, I mean me, and by THIS I mean HOT USL NEWS. That doesn’t even take into account the late Saturday disclosure that Jose Carranza is no longer with the team. The club didn’t offer any details into what led to his departure. While we haven’t actually seen him in a game since last fall, I had certainly hoped to see him play a role of some sort in midfield for LouCity. The good news is, Hackworth doesn’t appear to have any scruples about picking up free agents mid-season and successfully working them into the lineup.

More troubling was the news that Paolo has been carrying a knock for a bit. Niall was useful in his first appearance as a 6 on Saturday but I can’t imagine that’s a long term solution. Totsch could be a viable solution there, as I’m not certain we’ll be seeing the 3-4-3 we saw on Saturday regularly given the breakdowns in the second half against Hartford. Peay or McMahon are solid options at centerback in that setup, and Totsch would be able to venture further up field in that role without leaving gaps on the flanks. Maybe. Just spitballin’ here.

In any event, there are more than 30 games to go and the fun’s just getting started. More to come, I’m sure.
