It’s Friday! Fridays are famous for late afternoon news dumps, getting fired, and finding excuses to leave work early. Or not going at all! They really are the best.
There’s another preseason game tomorrow! It’s at NKU up in Highland Heights, Kentucky! I went to law school there and loved it so much I’ve never been back going on eleven years now. I have heard, though, that it’s a lot better than it used to be. It had nowhere to go but up, but I genuinely am glad to see things improving.
RE: the soccer team:
The Norse lost their opening preseason game against FCC 0-3 earlier in the week. NKU actually has a pretty nice eight-game spring schedule on tap, so if you live in the area, you should check it out. The stadium, located on NKU’s campus, sticks with the “everything-concrete” aesthetic of the rest of the university, but it really is a nice facility. I think they even serve beer there.
Northern had and up-and-down fall season in 2017, going 7-6-4, six of those wins coming at home. They scored 18 goals and gave up 17 in as many games. They look to be a physical team, picking up 280 whistles over that same span. The two leading goalscorers are #9 Tom Suchecki and #10 Rickard Lindqvist with four apiece.
I’m not going to the game, unfortunately. My oldest kiddo has soccer practice at the same time as the match. I recall reading somewhere that the match would be broadcast or streamed in some form or fashion. That’s all I, or anyone else, knows about how to watch this game right now. Smoke signals? Telepathy? We’ll have some kind of recap for you once the telegraphs come in. I’m unsure whether the club will put something together given the Witness Protection Program-style veil they’ve put over the trialists so far.
