Lots to cover this morning, so straight to the links:

  • Start your morning with this short film production by Louisville City starring Brad Estes as a stoic ticket office referee. Sean Totsch and George Davis, IV deliver understated but powerful performances as office gopher and a ticket rep, as usual. John Hackworth shows true mastery of his craft and delivery in a role that he’ll be remembered for for years to come. Also, there’s a surprise cameo by Danny Cruz! The director didn’t entrust Estes with any lines, but his thousand-yard stare and deliberate withdrawal of the yellow card is truly something to behold. Four and a half stars! Rotten Tomatoes calls it certified fresh.
  • Indy Eleven announced some new investors yesterday that likely push their ownership’s net worth into a stratosphere that could get Don Garber’s attention. Chances are, these guys were roped in to help get Indy’s Eleven Park under better footing, but I’m sure an MLS push isn’t far behind with this kind of equity. If they do manage to break into the first division, that would likely spell the end of Louisville City’s own MLS chances.
  • Speedy Williams was sighted at tryouts for Minnesota United per Jeff Reuter. Reuter doesn’t think the Jamaican international’s chances of making the senior team roster are high, as they’re fairly stocked at central midfield, but that he might get on with new League One side Forward Madison. I strongly doubt that’s something Williams is interested in, as he’s one of the best midfielders in USL three years running, but it’s always difficult to get a good read on him from my perspective.
