Your daily(?) dose of Morado-slanted soccer news.
Guys. GUYS. And girls. GIRLS. LOUISVILLE CITY SOCCER IS HAPPENING TOMORROW! The first preseason game against the Mountain Lions from Young Harris College is tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. I think the ticket office fixed whatever problem they were having, so if you’re a season ticket holder with nothing else to do, I’m sure I’ll see you there. If you aren’t one of those people, I’ll have my thoughts on the match up sometime on Sunday. Probably. Things get hectic around Castilo Sorrels on the weekends.
I’m not quite ready to do my March to the Match stuff yet, but here’s some quick dirt on Young Harris this spring:
- They had a pretty good fall season, going 14-4-2.
- They scored 42 goals in those 20 games, and gave up 22.
- They out-shot their opponents by 150 shots.
- They made it to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division 2 tournament, losing to Lynn College, who made it to the championship game.
- Numbers 9 and 10, Mikie Rowe and Marco Micaletto, led the team in scoring with ten goals apiece, and Number 3 Macauley King had ten assists.
This is a team that likes to shoot and score. I expect they’ll annoy the daylights out of our defense tomorrow, which means they’ll be annoying me, also. Meanwhile, we’ll get to see whether James O’Connor has to suit up to play in the center midfield rotation, and possibly a glimpse of a new defender, Baniel Dyrd. Never heard of the guy.
CAN’T. WAIT.
Other stuff:
- St. Louis FC just picked up a proven USL goal scorer in Kyle Grieg. STL is doing exciting things! It’s totally gonna work this time!
- Tommy Heinemann won his arbitration proceedings against FC Cincinnati. Here’s hoping he gets healthy and finds a good place to play.
- Speaking of strikers, Indy Eleven signed MLS veteran Soony Saad to their rapidly growing roster earlier this week.
- I’m all for passion and bantz between fans but attempted murder is a bridge too far, IMO.
