You know, one thing I think I might miss most about soccer and sports in general is tailgating. The LouCity Tailgaters have always done such a bang-up job of getting meals and drinks together, and their efforts should never go unappreciated. I don’t have much personal experience with them since I have three kids and getting them to sit in a parking lot for any more than 30 minutes before a game is nearly impossible, but I’ve heard good things!
I do love a good tailgate, though. This weekend, I’m going to stage one of my own. In my back yard. For myself, mostly. I’d invite you all, but, you know, social distancing and the likelihood of a public shaming from either the mayor or Governor Andy prohibits it. Nonetheless, I’m going to put a rub on a pork shoulder and sit in my back yard and pretend to be useful while drinking copious amounts of beer in the sun for several hours tomorrow. It’ll be great! You should do that, too.
As you may remember, this weekend was supposed to be Installment #1 of the 2020 LIPAFC series. Sadly, such shall not come to pass for at least another month or so. That said, let’s all remember the good times we’ve had in LIPAFCs past, including the time we beat Indy XI at home in the playoffs, and the time we beat them on the road in the Eastern Conference Final, and the times Indy fans were sad because their team couldn’t beat Louisville City away from an indoor NFL stadium. So many to choose from!
News-wise, the league suspended training up to April 19 with the possibility of playing any games up to May 10. That’s probably still fairly optimistic in my view, but here’s hoping they’re right. VAMOS MORADOS!
