More Lancaster Rumors!

Jeff Rueter, a writer and wizard at The Athletic, added some fuel to the “Cameron Lancaster back to Louisville City” rumors yesterday:

The Tennesseean more or less regurgitated what we already knew, which is better than nothing, cough-cough COURIER-JOURNAL. The important part of Jeff’s tweet is the wage item. Lancaster picked up a pretty nice payday this season from Nashville, one that I’m fairly sure Louisville City couldn’t or prudently wouldn’t match. With NSC keeping the tab for most of Cam’s salary, City now gets a class striker for peanuts. All Cam’s gotta do is stay healthy.

No official word on this loan from either club yet. This is also the first time it’s been called a loan, but that’s probably the only way it really would have worked for either side. Fingers crossed it goes through!

More USL expansion

Things have been quieter on the Championship side of USL, but League One and Two are still working hard at expansion. The latest rumor is of a League One team in High Point, North Carolina. If the would-be owners check off all of the boxes and ever kick a ball, that would make five professional clubs in the Tar Heel State – the others being NCFC, Charlotte Independence, Charlotte Town SC, and NC Courage. There are also at least three or four 4th division sides in the state. That’s a lot of soccer for a state that isn’t New York, California, Texas or Florida.
