It’s the start of another week in December, and that means another week of entertaining offseason USL and other soccer news! Let’s get right to it today:

  • MLS is coming to Charlotte, but it’s not bringing the Independence along with it. If you’ve been following MLS as long as I have, you’ll remember that one of the requirements for entry to the league (aside from being a multi-billionaire) was a soccer specific stadium. That didn’t apply to NYCFC and City Football Group because they’re more like trillionaires, and apparently it doesn’t apply to David Tepper and his Charlotte MLS group, either. If the deal does happen, that probably spells the end for the Independence, a pretty forgettable club but with a dedicated following.
  • Speaking of stadiums, Colorado Springs Switchbacks just broke ground on their new one.
  • In addition to retaining Tyler Pasher, Indy Eleven signed Carl Haworth to augment their attack last week. Haworth was last seen torching fullbacks for Ottawa Fury (RIP).
  • St. Louis’s new GM is at least doing one thing right: he/she retained Wal Fall for 2020.

Have a great week!
