Happy December, everyone! That’s a thing people say, right? No? Okay.
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving. Mine was great, if exhausting. Thanks for asking! I ate too much and had more Fireball than someone my age should be allowed to drink, but that’s what it takes sometimes.
Since most teams’ player contracts expire at the end of November, returning roster news is gonna feature hot and heavy this week. I’ll try and keep it to teams that you’re more likely to be interested in, but if I miss one, well, Google exists. Have at it.
With the signing of Corben Bone, Louisville City is probably only going to add four or five more players to the existing 17 man roster. I imagine at least two of those players will be goalkeepers, though recent Academy signee Muamer Ugarak might be a player that could fill the third spot if need be. There’s very little in the way of information about how Louisville City’s academy system works, though, so who knows if it was a calendar year deal or something longer-term. Sounds like a good question for a podcast! HINT, HINT.
Onto the news:
- Memphis’s front office realized that they were a bad team last season and so they’re only bringing back four guys for 2020. That’s a lot of work left to do! Notable absence from that list: Morgan Hackworth.
- St. Louis FC is bringing back nine guys from 2019. No word yet on whether Anthony Pulis will still be the man in charge, however.
Guy Abendand Sean Reynolds were not renewed :(. - Heartthrob Matt Fondy is still scoring goals out there! Last week he helped his amateur club Olympic qualify for the 2020 US Open Cup.
Have a great week, everybody!
EDIT: Guy Abend was renewed for a second season in St. Louis. We regret the error!
