Today’s Purple Press is going to be a bit more transaction-y. While there are still a few roster spots that John Hackworth needs to fill here in Louisville, other clubs are doing their bestest to load up, too. To wit:

Tampa Bay Rowdies signed Forrest Lasso to bolster their sometimes-shaky defense. Lasso is an immediate impact signing for the Rowdies. While I don’t like that he got a first XI nod this past season while only playing about a third of the games, he’s obviously one of the class of the league. Tampa Bay also signed former NCFC defender Aaron Guillén to shore up their back line.

Birmingham Legion slogged their way through most of last season until the very end when they seemed to catch fire. On Tuesday, they added a few new pieces to their attack in Neco Brett (sob) and Bolu Akinyole. I’d hoped to see Brett in purple this coming season, personally, but he definitely helps to make Legion better.

There’s even more going on out west with Tulsa and OKC Energy, etc., but we’ll probably never see those teams in person so they don’t matter. Real Monarchs re-signed captain Jack Blake, though.

In non-transaction news (or opinion, rather), Indy’s stadium project might not quite have the public support the club had hoped. At least one columnist wonders why they should be building a stadium if the club isn’t going to join MLS. That would be a shame.

Finally, here are some giant seals trying to sink a sailboat. Have a great day and VAMOS MORADOS!
