It’s been a fairly quiet week around these parts. We got a US Open Cup date, some transfers here and there around the league, and that’s about it. The Open Cup thing was cool, but otherwise? Kind of a meh week.
However. The team flew down to IMG last night and is probably running around a soccer field in Bradenton as you read this. John Hackworth has sounded positive in every interview he’s done lately, which is always good. It’s the standard preseason coach attitude, to be fair, but still good.
But it’s almost here. City will be playing someone other than themselves (DC United) in less than a week! We might even be able to watch it happen! Probably not, but maybe! It’s still TBD!
And that’s exciting to think about. It’s been a long winter. Not as long as, say, St. Louis’s winter, but still pretty long. And now there’s Louisville City soccer again. Preseason soccer is better than no soccer at all. And we get to open up the stadium a few days earlier than we’d thought. And I’m near certain there’s still some exciting roster news that’s not quite come out yet. And James O’Connor’s in charge of youth development and that guy never half-asses anything so there’s bound to be some news on that front too.
The season’s so close, y’all. March 7 is so close. The Wasatch Winter Cup, which we can definitely watch, is right around the corner. Let’s get ready. If you aren’t in a supporter’s group (I recommend the Coopers, of course, but you do you), try one out. Help make flags and signs and tifo and musical instruments. Join the Groove Machine. Write some songs and share them with your friends, or even us. Become my recap slave an associate author here on this fair website. Or don’t, but things are always more fun when you enjoy and share them with others.
VAMOS MORADOS.
