Happy Friday! Today is the 590th anniversary of the founding of the Order of the Golden Fleece by Duke Philip the Good of Burgundy, a chivalrous order maintaining that Brooks Brothers must always sell its socks for 20% off. That’s a yuppie white guy joke, and if you didn’t get it, you are most certainly better for it and should be relieved.
Let’s talk soccer, shall we?
THE SCHEDULE!
ICYMI, the full USL schedule was released yesterday. Here’s the important part of it, Louisville City games, and our quick review of how the season shapes up for the Boys in Purple.
Something we neglected to note in our schedule review: because Nashville moved to MLS, every team in the East lost two games that had to somehow be replaced. The league resolved that issue by scheduling a third game against two other teams.
In an effort to try and make the schedule fair, it kinda looks like the league added one game per team that was against an “easy” team and one against a not-so-easy team. Louisville City’s three-game opponents, then, are Indy and St. Louis. We’ll let you draw your own conclusions about which one’s which.
Quick Hits:
- The USL Players Association tweeted a brief and mostly non-informational update about their negotiations with the league.
- Miami FC announced five new player signings that I honestly have never heard of, all of whom have some prior connection to the club. They do, however, look pretty happy about the news.
- Louisville City could do a lot worse than NCFC’s club model, which goes from youth development all the way to the senior team.
Have a great weekend!
