Apologizes for the delay in writing I was on vacation for a the month of May. Anyway it is good to back writing about a sport and a team I love. Before I begin, shout out To Scott Goddwin on
his acceptance to Medical School at Harvard!
The men in Purple go on to take on the fake men in purple away from home. OCB currently sits 8th in points in the East with 14. LCFC sit pretty at the top with a game in hand on the team below. OCB boast a record of 4-5-2 with a three game undefeated streak. LCFC is 7-1-3 and is on a 9 game undefeated run that could continue when they visit Orlando. Lets take a look at the teams and the keys to the game.
OCB:
OCB, who don’t have Ricardo Kaka or Cyle Larin in the lineup, are looking to get revenge after a 4 to 1 beat down by LCFC at Slugger Field. Their first key is to not concede a goal (obviously) but they have conceded in all but 2 of their 11 games. That said they also need to defend the home front, having won 2 of 9 home games.
Their top goal scores of Michael Cox and Tyler Turner who each have 3 goals and 1 assist. Look for them to be a presence as well as Hadji Barry and Bryan Rochez who each have 2 goals. This team has figured out how to score goals having scored 13 goals this season, while conceding 17. Their defense will also need to play a solid 90 minutes if they want a result against an extremely potent LCFC offense.
The next key will be to share the ball as 13 goals have come off 9 assists. I expect OCB to learn from a blow out loss to LCFC earlier at Slugger Field. Look for them to attack LCFC early, much like the game at Slugger, and then ease back and play defense (we saw how that worked out with a 4 to 1 loss).
LCFC:
Having been missing the Purple Reign at home, we’ll need to watch the game at our own homes instead of with 8000 of our closest friends. Anyway lets take a look at LCFC and what they will
bring to Titan Soccer Complex. Their first key is to continue playing stout defense having not conceded a goal in 5 straight league games. They also have to continue the reign of being the most
potent attack in the USL Eastern Conference.(Only Los Angeles Galaxy II and Vancouver Whitecaps 2 have more goals at 25 and 21). LCFC’s attack is very strong having scored 19 goals and conceded only 9 (which are better than the LAGII and VW2).
The next key is to get Chandler “The Hoff” Hoffman going and get him back on the scoring train he hasn’t scored in league play in a while. Finally the last key will be to attack often, as we saw that OCB gets a goal and then hopes it can holdout against a team and maybe get a counter attack goal. We must press the attack and bury them under high pressure defense and high octane offense.
Prediction:
OCB 1-2 LCFC
I could be wrong but based on their home record LCFC should have no problem beating OCB at home. Having said that home field advantage can always play a role (or as we say here hometown cooking). Anyway expect this game to be high octane with a lot of offense. However, expect LCFC to find a hole in the OCB defense and get some goals. I had a vision Hoffman will score this game haha. Raise one to the one true Men in Purple!
