WHO: Union Omaha, USL League One

WHAT: A Wasatch Winter Cup match/friendly/thing

WHEN: TODAY at 3:00 p.m., I think?

WHERE: Zions Bank Stadium, Herriman, Utah

WATCH: You can’t unless you’re at the WHERE place

WHO, AGAIN? Union Omaha! It’s a brand-spankin’-new USL League One team with a very cool brand! They’ve played only one other game EVER, a scoreless draw against Real Monarchs on Sunday! That means they might not be that bad, as Monarchs are still presumably pretty good.

Here’s a link to their existing roster. I won’t pretend that I know anything about a single person on that list. A bunch of no-names didn’t stop Swope Park from beating Morados in Kansas City last year, so let’s not overlook these little owlets. Their manager is Jay Mims, who came up in the Real Salt Lake and Monarchs setups, so he’s familiar with his surroundings at least. This is his first pro head coaching position, so he may think he’s got a point to prove in this game. Or, he’s smart and realizes it’s a friendly and will plan accordingly. We’ll see!

Louisville City won their opening Wasatch Winter Cup match rather convincingly, 3-0 against Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Hackworth said earlier in the week that he was going to rotate his squads pretty heavily. I’m excited to see some lineups, even if that’s about all I’ll see of this match.

No stream for this one, but if you can manage it, follow @LouCityFC and @Union_Omaha on Twitter for sporadic and sometimes informative updates! VAMOS MORADOS!
