A first-round USL Cup Playoff match
WHEN:
Saturday, October 20, 2018, 7:30 p.m.\

WATCH:
It’s a playoff game. You’ll be there, you’ll be loud, you’ll be properly lubricated, you’ll urge Los Morados a victoria. There’s nothing like a playoff game at Slugger, at least not until the new stadium opens. But if you can’t make it because your dog won’t come out of your refrigerator, you can watch the latest edition of the Louisville-Indianapolis Proximity Association Football Contest on WBNA-21, listen on 790 WKRD, and stream it on ESPN+.
MARCH:
PRE-MATCH TAILGATE
Join us and the Lou City Tailgaters for all your pre-match festivity needs! Tailgating typically starts around four (4) hours prior to kickoff but you may find a few die-hards out there earlier. The tailgate is supporter run and supporter funded. We recommend BYOB and food contributions. If you do partake we ask that you contribute to the general fund. The main tailgate is located at the corner of N Preston St and E Witherspoon St in the Riverside Parking Cobalt Lot. The Coopers are joined here by several other SGs, so come say hello to everyone!
PRE-MATCH MARCH
About 30-40 minutes prior to kickoff we’ll start the March to the Match. Join us as we march around the tailgate lot, up Preston St, and into the east entrance. Flags will be waving, smoke will be popping, and we’ll be chanting and singing the whole way!
POST-MATCH CELEBRATION
After the match concludes, we have beers at Against the Grain which is conveniently located right outside the Slugger Field gate. Make sure you order a pint of the Coopers-inspired Ball Control! $0.50 from every pour (on home match days) of Ball Control goes to Shirley’s Way, a most excellent local charity helping families of those afflicted with cancer.
WHO, AGAIN?
I could literally cut-and-paste the same preview I wrote last week here, though there are a few key differences:
Indy returns Soony Saad and Nathan Lewis. Saad’s gonna have the greater impact, as you might imagine. Morados return Speedy Williams and Shawn Francis. Speedy is a near-lock to start. The only selection up in the air, in my opinion, is who plays the number 10 spot, Niall or Ilija. My money’s on Ilija, but who knows.
I know City’s tendency is to put a lot of numbers forward, but it’s crucial to keep clean sheets in the playoffs. It’s also important to score first, at least from City’s perspective. Indy isn’t the most proactive team you’ll ever see, but they’re definitely interested in trying to nick a goal on counters and set pieces. How about let’s limit those opportunities and be clinical with our own, hmm?
It’s doable. Morados definitely had their chances to score in the last match and only Fon Williams’s heroics are what kept the scoreline from being lopsided. Here’s hoping he’s not quite so perfect.
VAMOS MORADOS, TE AMAMOS! VAMOS A GANAR EL CAMPENONATO OTRA VEZ!
