WHO, AGAIN?

Ottawa are quietly having a pretty good second (and probably last) USL campaign. They aren’t outstanding, by any means, but they’re a solid team with some interesting pieces that deserve some attention.Manager Nicola Popovich is in his first year with Ottawa after taking Swope Park to the USL Cup final last year.

Of course, most of us will remember human freight train Duba Dos Santos, who leads the Furries in scoring again. Maxime Crepeau is one of the leading shot stoppers in the league. Kevin Oliveira is the team’s leading chance creator. All three, plus most of the rest of the starters for Ottawa, played Wednesday night in the Canadian version of the Open Cup, so City might actually have more legs than their opponent for the first time in a while. Which would be nice.

City will have a week’s rest, then, and a full roster minus Ballard and Spencer, of course. Not that it matters, but this should be the Triumvirate’s last match in charge. I obviously hope we win so the guys go out on top before trying to return to their normal roles in the squad. This isn’t a job George, Paolo or Luke asked for, but I think they rose to the occasion as best they could. Our hats should all be off to them.

I can’t get that excited about this game, for some reason, which is probably why it’ll be an absolute barn burner. Let’s go get three points, or whatever that converts to from Canadian points.

VAMOS MORADOS, VAMOS A GANAR!
