At the park! School’s almost over. You know by now whether or not your kid or kids are going to be promoted or graduate (or not). The weather’s gonna be nice. You’re out of excuses. Unless you have one, like a random trip to Las Vegas, which is begrudgingly acceptable, and in which case you can watch it on TV on WBNA 21, listen on 840 WHAS, or stream it on ESPN+.
MARCH:
PRE-MATCH TAILGATE
Join us and the Lou City Tailgaters for all your pre-match festivity needs! Tailgating typically starts around four (4) hours prior to kickoff but you may find a few die-hards out there earlier. The tailgate is supporter run and supporter funded. We recommend BYOB and food contributions. If you do partake we ask that you contribute to the general fund. The main tailgate is located at the corner of N Preston St and E Witherspoon St in the Riverside Parking Cobalt Lot. The Coopers are joined here by several other SGs, so come say hello to everyone!
PRE-MATCH MARCH
About 30-40 minutes prior to kickoff we’ll start the March to the Match. Join us as we march around the tailgate lot, up Preston St, and into the east entrance. Flags will be waving, smoke will be popping, and we’ll be chanting and singing the whole way!
POST-MATCH CELEBRATION
After the match concludes, we have beers at Against the Grain which is conveniently located right outside the Slugger Field gate. Make sure you order a pint of the Coopers-inspired Ball Control! $0.50 from every pour (on home match days) of Ball Control goes to Shirley’s Way, a most excellent local charity helping families of those afflicted with cancer.
WHO, AGAIN?
Atlanta has won just once since Louisville City drew with them a few weeks ago, and that was a 5-4 goalfest against the dregs of the entire league, Toronto FC II, on Wednesday night. This is a team Morados should have beaten the first time out, and one that they should beat on Saturday night.
We know A T L U T D 2 is talented: Andrew Carleton, George Bello, Jon Gallagher, Chris Goslin, Devon Sandoval. Good players. We won’t see Carleton or Goslin, as they’re in Honduras with the US U20s.
ATL’s defense is their weakness. For all their attacking talent, Atlanta’s got a -5 goal difference. They’ve earned just one point in four road matches so far and have given up multiple goals in every match except (predictably) Pittsburgh since our last tilt. They conceded multiple goals to Toronto and Ottawa, for crying out loud.
City is still a little dinged up. It was great to see Pat McMahon play on Wednesday, and hopefully that gives us some more rotation in the back. Speedy got some rest, too. If the attack and midfield can figure out whatever connectivity problems they’ve been having the last couple weeks, then maybe things turn back around on Saturday. I can’t wait.
VAMOS MORADOS
