WATCH: At the game! It’s Labor Day weekend! You probably aren’t working that hard today, anyway! Go get tickets! But if you can’t, it’ll be on WBKI and 840 WHAS (maybe). The internet broadcast is on ESPN3, so if you don’t have a cable subscription, you’re out of luck for streaming purposes.
MARCH:
Join us and the Lou City Tailgatersfor all your pre-match festivity needs! Tailgating typically starts around four (4) hours prior to kickoff but you may find a few die-hards out there earlier. The tailgate is supporter run and supporter funded. We recommend BYOB and food contributions. If you do partake we ask that you contribute to the general fund. The main tailgate is located at the corner of N Preston St and E Witherspoon St in the Riverside Parking Cobalt Lot. The Coopers are joined here by several other SGs, so come say hello to everyone!
About 30-40 minutes prior to kickoff we’ll start the March to the Match. Join us as we march around the tailgate lot, up Preston St, and into the east entrance. Flags will be waving, smoke will be popping, and we’ll be chanting and singing the whole way!
After the match concludes, we have beers at Against the Grain which is conveniently located right outside the Slugger Field gate. Make sure you ask for a pint of the Coopers rotating charity tap! $0.50 from every pour (on home match days) goes to Shirley’s Way, a most excellent local charity helping families of those afflicted with cancer.
WHO, AGAIN? Indy Eleven, our age-old rivals. They’re good this season. They’re super-solid defensively. They’re pretty clinical offensively. Martin Rennie has put together a very effective squad this season, make no mistake.
They’re pretty good on the road, too, winning six of their ten away trips. It’s a little crazy that it’s almost September and they’ve only played ten away games, but I digress.
Tyler Pasher is a handful in forward positions. Neveal Hackshaw is an all-League defender in my book. Ilja Ilic is rounding into form now that Enovoldsen is gone. Dane Kelly is dangerous but might not be available. Ayoze is going to demand all of Pat McMahon’s attention, probably. I’m hoping Hackworth has a special coverage plan for Alioune Diakhate.
This is a game that Citu will have to dig really deep to win. We’re going to need outstanding performances from the front three to keep the Eleven defense occupied so the midfield has room to operate. Indy likes to clog up passing lanes and Morados will have to be patient in possession to avoid turnovers or resorting to long balls.
It’s gonna be tough. But it’s LIPAFC, and we’ve been doing this for centuries. Let’s do it again. VAMOS MORADOS!
