Louisville City announced today that the club was going scrapping the “new look” crest announced back on December 16 and would continue using the “traditional” badge that the club has worn since its inaugural season in 2015.

“We are very appreciative of the time and effort our fans put into sending us their suggestions for our new crest,” Louisville City President Brad Estes said. “We collected hundreds of responses and we are encouraged by our supporters’ passion for this project. Together, we found several designs that we genuinely liked, but we want to make sure we are devoting the proper time and resources that this process requires.”

Translation: we heard a lot of you yelling very loudly that you didn’t like the new crest, and just fixing it wasn’t going to work, so back to the drawing board for now.

I’m sure many of our fans are breathing a collective sigh of relief right now, and that’s good. However:

The club’s design process will continue through the next several months as Louisville City will enlist the aid of a world-recognized branding expert to join the effort in engaging with supporter groups and local fans to build branding that will unite our community.

So that means there’s gonna be a new crest, just not this year. “World-recognized branding expert” is encouraging, however, and I’m interested to see where this leads. I hope #CrestGate2020 isn’t a thing but knowing you all, I’m going to keep my doubts. VAMOS MORADOS!
