Our more or less weekly roundup of USL news. Best enjoyed with coffee or the beer your friends left in your fridge last weekend.
Well kids, this Saturday marks the first weekend of play in USL, and exactly one week before Louisville City opens its season at Slugger Field against St. Louis FC. I’m excited, you’re excited, we’re all excited, so let’s see what happened last week in around the league:
- Most of the USL teams are putting the final touches on their rosters, but not NYRB2! They’re just kinda sorta putting a plan together for who might or might not play on their USL squad. Gonna be a great year for that bunch, I can feel it.
- Aside from beating STLFC in
wellsparsely-attended friendly at St. Louis’s very special soccer park last week, Tulsa Roughnecks (or RUFFNEX as I call them) seem to have a thing for playing bible schools in Oklahoma. OU wouldn’t play you? - I know the LCFC friendly against UofL was a little chippy last week, but at least James O’Connor didn’t pull his team off the field in the middle of the game like Sacramento Republic FC’s Preki against UC Davis on Saturday.
- BONUS RANDOM LINKAGE: Samuel Whittemore was a badass.
