The winger known as Fight Club is finally officially part of the 2018 Louisville City roster. Jamaican international Shaun Francis has been on trial with the club for about a month now but, like the weird guy at a party, we weren’t supposed to talk about him, call him by name, or indicate in any way that he actually existed. But now he does!

Francis has had a long and successful career in MLS, spending the bulk of his career with San Jose Earthquakes (69 appearances)(nice) and most recently playing with Montreal Impact. Francis does have Kentucky ties, however, playing college ball at Lindsay Wilson in Adair County. Fight Club has also made eleven appearances with the Reggae Boyz, and spent some time playing with Speedy in Jamaica over the offseason before trying out with Morados. I understand some of his family lives in Louisville, too.

Francis has traditionally played as a fullback, but, having seen him play against Young Harris, I think we can expect him to play on the left wing in O’Connor’s 3-4-3 and press high up the field. He’s got quite a bit of pace and hits a really nice ball from the wing into the box, something I’m sure Luke Spencer will enjoy this season.

Francis will be City’s 20th player for the season. While I hope City signs one more, I’m not particularly optimistic. Scott Ritter and Baptist Health will need to be all hands on deck keeping these guys healthy all season, but they’ve proven they’re up to the task so far. Welcome to Louisville, Fight Club!
