We all saw Scotty Goodwin save Jorge Herrera’s penalty kick attempt in last Saturday’s game against Charlotte, and we were all impressed. Scotty’s save was so impressive that Scotty was named USL Player of the Week. It was apparently so impressive that Charlotte Independence itself thought it was the Save of the Match, which is kind of hilarious:

Zach Hall, who writes the very good blog Crown Town Soccer, was pretty pissed about this. It’s not generally something you see an opposing team do – name a guy on the other team the Man of the Match or something similar. However, as the kids used to say, game recognize game.
