Louisville City’s much-improved Twitter intern let us know today that midfielder Aodhan Quinn will be back on the Royals’ roster for the 2016 season. This is good! Quinn became great partner for Juan Guzman in central/defensive midfield after O’Connor struggled to find a replacement for the injured Guy Abend last season.
Quinn, at 23 years old, 6 feet and an appropriate number of pounds, came to Louisville City last season after not having secured a club following his release from Orlando City’s USL team in 2014. That seems surprising now, as he does so well in dead ball situations, in the tackle, and is generally a fiery guy to watch play. Not a Fieri Guy, in case you were confused. He’d be useless at soccer.
Here’s a numerical example of how important Quinn was for City last season:
#4 | Quinn, Aodhan | GP-GS: 21-21 | Min: 1833 | Goals: 2 | Assists: 1 | Points: 5 | Shots: 31 | Shot %: .065 | Shots on Goal: 13 | SOG%: .419 | YC/RC: 6-0 | Fouls: | 20 |
And then, of course, there’s this:
Aodhan, we’re glad you’re back.
