2016 CANDIDATES FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

To vote, you must be present at our Annual General Meeting/MLS Cup Watch Party on Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. at Against the Grain. Vote for one candidate for each position, except member at large, where you vote for six. Job descriptions are listed at the bottom of this page.

PRESIDENT
Ken Luther
Retired Colonel, US Army, over 25 years of leadership experience. Served as a capo in 2015. Objectives for 2016 are: 1) Make game day support second to none 2) Make decisions transparent to all Coopers 3) Work in conjunction with other supporters groups/establish a council 4) Have fun! C’MON CITY!!

Alex Miner
I believe my combination of leadership experience I gained in the Marine Corps as well as a love for The Coopers as both an organization as well as a part of whom I have been for the past year and a half will make me a viable candidate. -Retreat hell, we just got here!

VICE PRESIDENT
Alex Miner
Given my military leadership background, and my strong ambition to make the Coopers a stronger and better organization at any opportunity I feel like I would be a good VP. I will combine these traits with my dedication to the organization thus far to do the best I could do in this capacity.

SECRETARY
Shana Farmer
I believe that board members should exist to serve the members of the Coopers & support the team. This means soliciting input from members. I would like the board to be more transparent, have more activities for members, more effective communication of various types, and more Town Hall meetings.

TREASURER
Timothy Clark
I would be a great candidate as I have served on the board in both the Presidential and Vice-Presidential positions. I have a clear working knowledge of the finances both past and current. In addition, I have built solid relationships with our club as well.

CLUB LIAISON
Patrick Blanton
I am a current member of the board and would like to continue to represent the coopers.I believe I represent a great group of people and can help bring together the club and fans.I am a hard working employee of Ford here in Louisville and will continue to bring the blue collar mentality to the board.

MEMBER-AT-LARGE
Christy Barger
This year, I have been involved with the Coppers Tifo, and Angel Share. I have served on several boards before including church vestry, and The Louisville Ballet Children’s Cast Coordinator. I like working with people for the best of the organization.

Patrick Blanton
I am a current member of the board and would like to continue to represent the coopers.I believe I represent a great group of people. I am a hard working employ of the Ford Motor Company here in Louisville and will continue to bring the blue collar mentality to the board. I am also co-chair of tifo.

Shana Farmer
I’m interested in helping to ensure that Louisville City, FC has a strong SG that’s involved w/the community. I want to participate as much as possible and have input. I have previous board experience, both as a member and advisor to a community board establishing their 501(3)(c) status.

Jennifer Kluesner
I have a strong voice and I’m not afraid to speak up even if my opinion contradicts others. I have proven my support as a fan over the past year and I’m willing to go the extra mile. I believe I can bring a different perspective to the table and help the Coopers grown into the future.

Derrick Mills
I love and have been a part of the Coopers nearly since their inception, joining in 2013. I have served as a committee chair starting with with events in 2014 and have since been serving as the the head of events, membership, and merchandise. I set up and run the Coopers online and gameday stores.

Adam Shaw
I’ve performed similar responsibilities in my role as a captain in the Louisville Adult Hockey Players Association. In this capacity, I’ve organized a variety of events (charity games, meetings, team parties), helped keep meeting notes and game stats, and done whatever else has been asked of me.

Brian Vowels
Aside from being an avid Louisville City fan, I have previous board experience with the PTSA for Oldham County HS and the YMCA where I focused on mrkt and comm. I also hold a leadership position at UPS. As a Member at Large, I can lend my community and leadership experience to multiple committees.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

President
Provide executive leadership and direction; serve as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio member of all committees except Nominations/Elections Committee and Audit Committee; have the power to countersign, along with the Vice President, all contracts, drafts, checks or other papers; have the power and authority to purchase, own, sell, lease, or otherwise receive or obtain any property, real or personal; only vote in the case of a tie.

Vice President 
Perform all duties of the President in his/her absence; perform other duties as requested; assume the office of President if it becomes vacant; countersign all contracts, drafts, checks or other papers in the absence of the President.

Secretary
Keep minutes of all meetings; ensure all notices are timely and properly distributed; custodian of records; handle all official correspondence; assist in maintaining the Coopers website and other Internet based communication tools.

Treasurer
Custodian of funds; sign all contracts, drafts, checks, or other papers in the absence of the President or Vice-President; compile and maintain proper records of the receipt and disbursement of all funds; prepare and submit proper reports of such receipts and disbursements to the Board of Directors, and to the general membership; prepare an annual statement for the Audit Committee; Prepare and submit any tax related documents required by the IRS and/or the Commonwealth of Kentucky of non-profit organizations.

Club Liaison
Act as the liaison between The Coopers and Louisville City FC; contact club regarding matters that need such club’s input; assist in maintaining the Coopers website and other Internet based communication tools.

Members-at-large (6)
Attend all Board of Directors meetings, club events, and general membership meetings; perform duties as may be requested by the Board of Directors or the President.
