Y’all. Y’ALL. Louisville City just announced the club’s first new signing of 2018, none other than former and now once-again attacking midfielder Magnus Rasmussen! My initial reactions:

  1. YASSSSS
  2. I hope he and Brian Ownby have to wrestle for the right to wear the Number 10 shirt during training camp in Bradenton.
  3. Who could have seen James O’Connor signing an attacking midfielder? (answer: all of us)
  4. YAY!

MAG RAM was one of my favorites while with the club just because he could produce moments of brilliance every now and then that we didn’t often see elsewhere on the team or, really, in the league. Since his contract expired at the end of 2016, Rasmussen returned home to Denmark to play futsal, suit up for Danish 2. Division side BK Frem 1886, and take videos of himself with his shirt off.

It remains to be seen Rasmussen fits into the squad now that City plays more of a 3-4-3. The system City used last year didn’t much lend itself to using or needing a central attacking playmaker, which is where Magnus had shone for O’Connor’s first two teams. However, we can assume that Rasmussen can be used in other places on the field, and another attacker certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing. Who knows, maybe he’ll fill in some much-needed depth on the wings.

Where he DEFINITELY fits in is the “Who Ate All the Pies” chant, and that’s what really matters here. Give @magnusras11 a warm return welcome to the Purple Family, and COME ON, CITY!
