This is a guest post by the Coopers’ and Groove Machine’s own Joe Vala. We translated this from native Jerseyan to Louisville English. – Tom Foolery

WHO WANTS TO BE GROOVY?

In just a couple of what I am sure will be exasperatingly long months, Louisville City FC will be back at it again. Don’t know about you all, but I can’t wait. It has been a long, long, long LONG winter without hanging with you guys.

And as we know, with LouCity games comes … The Groove Machine!

Yes kids, the world’s most dangerous soccer supporter drum line is back!

In just a couple of short years, we have put together a team of dedicated supporters who have made playing drums at our games part of their game day experience. Even though the majority of them never played a note, with a couple of very short rehearsals, they blended in immediately. I’m sure you can tell if you look down at us while the game goes on how much we enjoy serving all of our supporters by keeping the GROOVE going and basically making opposition players wish they were at Red Bull Arena, to be serenaded by the crickets …

And the plan has not changed: To be loud, play loud, drink loud, and … drink loud! And yeah, play loud …

We have one purpose: Help The Supporters Support The Team. That’s It. No super technical drumming routines. No Neal Pert Solos. No set uniforms. It’s super simple and super fun!

But like any great team, our roster can always use some new blood. We would LOVE to have you join us!

Here are the requirements:

Get a drum.
Come to one rehearsal.

Yep, that’s it! No previous playing requirements (of course if you do play, we would LOVE to have you!). Other than being a paid member of the Coopers, no financial requirements. No attendance requirements.

Get a drum. Beat the crap outta it. No biggie, right?

Simple :-)

Now that sounds expensive, right? Nope, not at all. We do not have drums for anyone to use, but they can be found in many places for extremely low-cost. I have a bass drum that I literally purchased for 9 bucks. Easy to find if you know where to look! I or any of the other Groove Machiners will be more than happy to help you get set up if you need assistance.

Our rehearsal is scheduled for March 4th, 3 PM at Saint Andrew UCC … Attending and playing at this rehearsal qualifies you to join us at the St Patrick’s parade the following week, and I am telling you…you WANT to do this parade!!!! Even if you don’t have a drum, you are absolutely more than welcome to check practice out. We’d love to meet you!

C’mon now … I can tell you wanna …

So much going on! With what appears to be another strong roster and the announcement of stadium planning, it is a great time to be a Loucity supporter. Help make it even better! Hope to see you on the 4th, and at games this season.

We are ready to BRING THE BIG LOUD! Hope you are too :-)
