Louisville City FC played their first full-squad friendly on Tuesday night against Indiana University, and the end result was a 2-3 win. I’d write more about it, but thanks to this lovely weather we’re having, the friendly was pushed indoors to IU’s football practice facility, so the game was closed to the public. We did, however, get some highlights of the action, some of which seems to have been filmed from inside a net. I sure hope the guy who was trapped in that net is okay!

The highlights are interesting, but in the end, don’t tell us much. Matt Fondy and his hair scored two goals in the first half, and trialist Cameron Lancaster put away the game winner in the second.

Three goals is good. Giving up two to a college team is bad, and is cause for some concern. James O’Connor said after the match he was pleased with the way his team possessed the ball in the first half, but the second half wasn’t up to his standards. Matt Fondy agreed, saying “It definitely feels nice to score and get the win,” Fondy said. “But I think there are still a lot of things we need to work on.” I trust that O’Connor has a plan in place to work on shoring up the defense, but the weather is undoubtedly making his ability to put that plan in motion difficult. COME ON, SUN, GET US OUT OF THIS MESS!
